Description: The VIP-912-FS and USB-912
Footswitch Systems allow hands free entry of up to four individual
user selectable PC or USB keyboard keys to the PC by operating
one or two compact single or dual-action footswitches. Footswitch
operated keyboard entry provides an excellent alternative to
hand entry in applications where frequent repetitive key strokes
are required. It can help in reducing the hand fatique and injuries
often associated with prolonged periods of keyboard entry, as
well as reducing operator error resulting from mis-typed keys. Each time a footswitch closure is depressed, the key code selected for that closure is sent to the PC. The footswitch closure is de-bounced and will not produce a string of characters (type-o-matic) if held down. Type-o-matic can be provided by special request. The key codes produced for a given closure are set at the factory as specified by the customer. The key codes can be changed to any other keys if your requirements change by re-setting jumpers located inside the Controller unit. Connections: VIP-912 systems come with a 6 pin mini-DIN male-male extension cable which is used to connect the Controller unit to the PS/2 keyboard port of the PC. USB-912 and USB-912H systems come with a standard USB Type A-B cable which is used to connect the Controller unit to the USB port of the PC. The captive cable of the keyboard is used to connect a keyboard, where applicable, to the Controller unit. Two 5 pin DIN female connectors (FS1/2 and FS3/4) on the front panel of the Controller unit are used to connect the footswitches to the Controller unit. Specifications: Dimensions for all 912 System Controller units are 1.50 in H x 5.08 in W x 5.25 in D (3.81 cm x 12.90 cm x 13.34 cm). The Controller unit housing are molded of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact ABS material, and are internally shielded with an acrylic base nickel coating for RFI attenuation. Front and rear panels are fabricated from .062 in thick aluminum and finished with low gloss black paint. The VIP-912-FS, USB-912, and USB-912H Footswitch Systems are designed to be powered from the PC's keyboard or USB port, so no external power supply is normally required. However, if the total current draw of USB devices connected to the 2 port hub on the USB-912H exceeds 400 mA, then the unit must be powered by a 5VDC wall mount power supply (VIP-210) which is not included with the system. Dimensions for the VIP-912-SW single-action footswitch are 1.00 in H x 2.63 in W x 3.50 in D (2.54 cm x 6.68 cm x 8.89 cm). The housing is a formed steel casing with a black finish, with a nonskid pad on the actuating treadle and a skid proof base. Dimensions for the VIP-912-SW2 dual-action foot switch are 1.25 in H x 2.5 in W x 5.0 in D (3.17 cm x 6.35 cm x 12.7 cm). The housing is a formed steel casing with a black finish with a skid proof base. Shipping weight for each of the 5 "individual components" listed above is 2 lbs. Shipping weight for all -FS1, and -FS2 Systems is 3 lbs. Shipping weight for all -FS3, -FS4, and -FS5 Systems is 4 lbs. |
