Description: The VIP-882-TS "TouchMux"™ Touch Technology KVM Splitter / Multiplexer allows two local workstations, each consisting of a keyboard, PS/2 mouse and touch screen video monitor, to share access to one PC. It is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is available in two standard configurations. At the heart of the VIP-882-TS is Vetra's advanced keyboard, mouse and touch technology emulation, which provides error free boot up and mouse driver loading to the connected PC, as well as simple one touch workstation selection for ease of operation. It is compatible with all popular keyboards and mice including Microsoft IntelliMouse, and touch screen monitors from 3M and ELO in video resolutions up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz. The VIP-882-TS operates transparently with all PCs, PC operating systems and applications. Operation: On both models, only one workstation may access the PC at any given time. This prevents unwanted input from the other workstation as might occur from accidental keystrokes, or a bump to the mouse. On the non-keyswitch model, workstation selection has two modes. The default mode utilizes a 5 second time out feature that monitors both workstations for keyboard, mouse or touch data input. The first workstation to generate keyboard, mouse or touch screen data, "seizes" the PC and becomes the "active station". It remains "active" until no further keyboard, mouse or touch data is detected for a period of 5 seconds, at which time it relinquishes control of the PC and the whole process starts again. The second mode provides a lock and release feature which allows the user of an "active station" to override the 5 second time out feature and manually lock out (3 taps on the left Shift key) the other workstation, and then release control (3 taps on the right Shift key) when finished so that both workstations are available once again to the PC. The keyswitch model utilizes a 2 position front panel keyswitch to select the active workstation. The keyswitch can be removed in either position for security purposes. When control of the PC passes from one workstation to the other, the intelligence in the TouchMux Touch Technology KVM Splitter updates any changes to the keyboard status indicators, CAPS, SCROLL, and NUM Lock, to the current "active station". The connected touch screen monitors are not switched, regardless of which workstation is active, and are on at all times. Any workstations keyboard and/or mouse may be disconnected and re-connected (hot-plugged), or exchanged at any time without having to power down the connected PC. This feature is useful if a connected device fails during a critical application. The VIP-882-TS can be powered by the connected PC's keyboard and mouse ports (depending on the PC) or from an optional external power supply (VIP-210 see Accessories). For applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The -KS model utilizes a 2 position front panel keyswitch to select the active workstation. The keyswitch can be removed in either position for security purposes.

Connections: PC to TouchMux - Standard male-male 6 pin mini-DIN extension cables are used to connect the TouchMux to the keyboard and mouse ports of the PC. A standard HDD15 Male-female video cable is used to connect to the video port of the PC. A standard DB9 Male-female cable is used to connect to the serial port (for touch screen data) of the PC. These cables are 6 feet in length and are provided with the unit. Keyboard, Mouse, and Touch Screen Monitor to TouchMux - The captive cables that are part of, or provided with, the keyboard, mouse, and touch screen monitor are used to connect these devices to the TouchMux. Extension cables are also available for short run extensions (see Accessories ). For configurations requiring remote extension of one or more workstations see XtendaTouch. Powering the TouchMux - Both VIP-882-TS TouchMux models are designed to be powered by the connected PCs. In some cases, depending on the make and model of the connected keyboards and mice, the PC's ports are unable to supply enough current to power all the devices. This can result in unreliable performance from the TouchMux. This can be corrected by powering the TouchMux with an external power supply (Vetra model VIP-210 see Accessories ). Specifications: Dimensions for both models of the VIP-882-TS Touch Technology KVM Splitter / Multiplexer are 3.38 in H x 6.06 in W x 6.32 in D (8.59 cm x 15.39 cm x 16.05 cm). The housings are molded of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact ABS material, and are internally shielded with an acrylic nickel coating for RFI attenuation. Front and rear panels are fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium and finished with low gloss paint. FCC and CE marked. Shipping weight for both models of the VIP-882-TS is 3 lbs.
