Description:
The USB-802-IN2D2 series "MegaSwitch"™ 2 Port USB Dual-Head KVM Switch allows one USB keyboard, USB mouse and two DVI video monitors to control two USB PCs or Servers. It is the ideal solution for USB dual-head DVI monitor applications requiring access to two computers, without the clutter and expense of additional keyboards, mice and monitors. The USB-802-IN2D2 series supports all popular USB keyboards and USB mice, and is unique in the industry in fully supporting all USB HID peripherals.
The USB-802-IN2D2 series of 2 Port USB Dual-Head Touch Screen DVI KVM Switches incorporate Vetra's advanced, patented TruReflekt™ USB device enumeration technology. All devices are truly enumerated, not just emulated as in many competitive products. True USB device functionality is retained through the switch. Connected keyboards and mice enumerate correctly. Devices may be "hot-plugged" at any time, and the connected PCs may be powered up and down in any order. The unique, patented architecture of the USB-802-IN2D2 series 2 Port USB Dual-Head KVM Switch ensures error-free boot up and device driver loading for each connected PC, and allows the MegaSwitch to operate transparently with all USB compatible PCs, including iMAC's, PC operating systems, and applications.
The USB-802-IN2D2 series 2 Port USB DVI Dual-Head KVM Switch comes in a variety of standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is ideally suited for desktop use. For applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories). The USB-802-IN2D2 series is also available as a Single-Head USB KVM Switch and as a USB Monitor Switch (monitors only, both VGA or DVI, no keyboard or mouse) for applications where only a monitor is needed.

Operation:
On all USB-802-IN2D2 series "MegaSwitch"™ USB Dual-Head DVI KVM Switch models the active PC is selected via a keyboard "hot-key" sequence ( [scroll lock] + [1] for PC1, or [scroll lock] + [2] for PC2 ) or by a push button(s) located on the front panel of the USB KVM Switch. Direct Entry models (as indicated by -DE in the model number) have an individual push button for each PC channel. Non-DE models have a single push button (NEXT PC) which toggles between the two connected PCs.
On all models, the selected PC channel is indicated by an illuminated LED on the front. Additional LED's indicate which PCs are powered. Upon selection, the intelligence in the MegaSwitch correctly sets the keyboard's status indicators, CAPS, SCROLL, and NUM Lock, as these settings may be different for each PC. The USB devices may be disconnected and re-connected (hot-plugged), or exchanged at any time without having to power down the connected PC's.

Connections:
Standard USB type A-B cables
are used to connect the MegaSwitch™ to the USB ports of the PCs,
and standard DVI-D Male-Male video cables are used to connect
to the DVI video ports of PCs. Using standard cables eliminates the
need to replace an entire multi-port cable if one connection
is damaged or fails, thereby reducing the overall cost of maintenance.
You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories
). The captive cables that are part of the keyboard, mouse, and DVI
monitor are used to connect these devices to the MegaSwitch.

Dimensions for the USB-802-IN2D2 and USB-802-IN2D2-DE USB DVI KVM Switch are 3.38
in H x 6.06 in W x 6.32 in D (8.59 cm x 15.39 cm x 16.05 cm).
The housings are molded of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact
ABS material, and is internally shielded with an acrylic base
nickel coating for RFI attenuation. Front and rear panels are
fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium and finished with low
gloss paint. All USB-802-IN2D2 series USB DVI KVM switch models
are powered from an external power supply which is supplied with
the unit. FCC and CE marked. Shipping weight is less than 3 lbs
per unit. |
